- What do I do when my student is absent from schooll?
A phone call from the custodial parent/guardian is needed the day of the absence and a note or doctor's slip is needed upon return to school. This will provide documentation for the absence. A parental note does not automattically excuse the absence. See Student Handbook
- How do I report an Early Dismissal for my student?
The parent/guardian may call in an early dismissal or the student may present a note requesting an early dismissal to the attendance office before the start of the school day. Each note should provide the time and reason for the dismissal plus a contact number.
- What if my student is late for school?
When a student reports to school after the tardy bell has rung, he/she must sign in at the Security Office and immedialtely report to the Attendance Office to sign-in and get a late arrival pass to class. This pass does not automatically excuse the tardy.
- What exactly is HHS's dress code --put simply?
Students are to dress modestly, remembering that they are in an educational environment. Their purpose is not to draw attention to themselves. Attire which exposes too much skin is not acceptable. Exposed midriffs, extreme "low riders and sagging are also not permitted. The Student Handbook is an excellent source for a more detailed description of this policy.
- What are the times for the different detentions?
Friday School Detention 1 (FSD1) = 2:45pm-3:45pm
Friday School Detention 2 (FSD2) = 2:45pm-4:45pm
Saturday School Detention (SSD) = 8am-11am
OSS is the Out-of-School Suspension program that is held at the Urban League at 1210 W. 10th. Street from 9:00am- 2:00pm. This program allows students to receive and work on assignments while suspended from school A sack lunch should be taken, if desired. Students/parents are responsible for transportation. If students complete their assigned OSS program, the suspension will not afftect the status of their Indiana driver's license or permit.
- Where is the Lost and Found?
There are 3 locations for lost and found items--the Principal's Office, Attendance Office and Counseling Office.
- Where does my student get a Work Permit?
Work Permits are issued through the counseling office by Shona Mefford.
- Who takes care of locker problems?
Mr. Finger, the assistant principal, will assist students with locker problems;however, locker combinations and numbers are recorded in the Attendance Office.
